Alberta's Provincial Health Agencies Act establishes the acute care, primary care, continuing care and mental health and addiction health services sectors. The amendments are contained within the Health Statutes Amendment Act (HSAA) tabled on May 14, and which received royal assent on May 30, 2024. The HSAA enables the transition from a single regional health authority to an integrated system of sector-based provincial health agencies. This Ministerial Order initiates the transition to a refocused health care system.
