This regulation is made under the Mines and Minerals Act to encourage industry to open up new oil and gas resources in higher-risk and higher-cost areas that have large resource potential in order to generate greater royalties and other benefits to Albertans. The regulation reduces Crown royalty due on hydrocarbons obtained from eligible wells in a project approved by the Minister on or after January 1, 2017 and on or before December 31, 2039.

Description

The Act provides standards and procedures that govern land surveys conducted within Alberta. These provisions do not apply to surveys of land administered by the Government of Canada, such as in national parks and First Nation Reserves. Under the authority of the Act, property boundaries governing the extent of interest in land are maintained and preserved within the land survey system. The Act provides the authority and means for the continued establishment of the provincial land survey system within territory not surveyed. The Act outlines the responsibilities and authority given to the Minister and more specifically to the Director of Surveys for the coordination of the establishment, maintenance and preservation of the land survey system and other related activities. Description

This regulation is made under the Mines and Minerals Act to promote the additional recovery of hydrocarbons through the injection of approved substances into an oil or gas pool. Recovery is incentivized by reducing the amount of Crown royalty due on hydrocarbons produced using enhanced recovery methods for up to 90 months. The regulation applies only to hydrocarbons obtained under an enhanced hydrocarbon recovery scheme that is approved by the Minister on or after January 1, 2017.

Non-compliance with the Act is an offence. The Act is administered by the Department of Energy.

This regulation is made under the Mines and Minerals Act to promote the additional recovery of crude oil through the injection of fluids such as hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, chemicals or other approved substances. Recovery is incentivized by reducing the amount of Crown royalty due on crude oil produced using enhanced recovery methods for up to 120 months. The regulation applies only to crude oil obtained on or after January 1, 2014 and on or before December 31, 2026.

Description

Effective September 15, 2008. The Code lists the requirements for the land treatment of soil containing hydrocarbons; it is primary used for the treatment of soil that has become contaminated by a refined fuel (gasoline and diesel) such as accidental spills or leaks from underground storage tanks. It is enabled by the Waste Control Regulation (AR 192/96); applicants are required to complete a registration form and submit it to the Director. The Code lists the information requirements of an application for registration of a site such as the written consent of registered owners of land where land treatment will occur, design requirements for beginning or continuing land treatment, e.g., distances from water, berms, barriers, and operational requirements such as sampling of soils, run-off monitoring and conditions under which soil or soil containing hydrocarbons can be removed from a registered site.
