Au Canada, tout le monde est protégé par la loi, et chaque individu a certains droits, peu importe son origine ethnique, sa culture, sa race, son sexe ou sa religion. Pour ceux qui ont été affectés par le crime, il existe des programmes et des services pour les assister. Certains immigrants et réfugiés ne sont peut-être pas au courant du système d’aide qui existe et ils peuvent rencontrer des barrières culturelles et linguistiques quand ils essaient d’accéder certains services utiles à leur cause. Ce livret a été développé pour les aider à franchir les barrières, à réduire leur isolement et pour bâtir des relations ou des rapports entre les communautés immigrantes ou de réfugiés et le système d’aide développé par le pays d’accueil.
