Provides information about Castle Provincial Park and Castle Wildland Provincial Park, which is located in southwest Alberta and protects over 105,000 hectares of valuable watersheds, and habitat for more than 200 rare species. The parks share borders with the Waterton Biosphere Reserve to the east, Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park to the south, the Crowsnest Pass to the north and the Flathead river valley of British Columbia to the west. The lands in the Castle region form part of the extraordinary Crown of the Continent ecosystem. This guide is for the 2018 summer season only.

The North Saskatchewan Regional Advisory Council was appointed by Cabinet to provide strategic advice in the development of the North Saskatchewan Regional Plan. In its advice submitted to the government in December 2014, the council provided 69 recommendations in six topic areas: managing wetlands and lakes as part of watershed management; supporting biodiversity in the region; inclusion of Indigenous Peoples in land-use planning; community growth and community land-use planning; management of outdoor recreation; and economic development.

One of six requests for reviews of the plan, which came into force in September 2012. As per the Alberta Land Stewardship Act, a person who is directly and adversely affected by a regional plan or an amendment to a regional plan may, within 12 months from the date the regional plan or amendment affecting the person comes into force, request a review of the regional plan or amendment.

This trails plan for West Bragg Creek is sponsored jointly by the GBCTA and TPR through their partnership agreement. Planning funds included a grant to GBCTA from the Shell/Husky Moose Mountain Environmental Enhancement Fund as well as matching funds and contributions in-kind from TPR, Kananaskis Country. This plan to upgrade and enhance trail opportunities in West Bragg Creek is intended to improve existing recreation while reducing impacts on the Elbow River watershed and area wildlife, as well as conflicts with other land uses. A series of objectives and principles guided plan preparation by a Plan Advisory Committee consisting of trail users, land managers, conservation groups, key stakeholders and a planning consultant. They gathered background information, determined user needs, assessed potential trail opportunities and constraints, and have made a series of recommendations. The plan was revised following review and comment by stakeholders and the public between November 2009...

The Highwood/Cataract area stretches from the boundary of Peter Lougheed Provincial Park to the southern border of Kananaskis Country and encompasses the upper reaches of the Highwood River watershed. It includes a diversity of landscapes ranging from stark high alpine beauty, to lush spruce and lodgepole pine forests, to the rich grazing lands of the Rockies’ front ranges. Some interesting features of the area include the Highwood Road Corridor Wildlife Sanctuary, the Plateau Mountain Ecological Reserve, and parts of Don Getty and Elbow-Sheep Wildland Provincial Parks.
