Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Teck Resources Limited Frontier Oil Sands Mine.The project consists of the construction, operation and reclamation of an oil sands surface mine with a production capacity of about 260,000 barrels per day of bitumen. The project is a truck and shovel mine which includes one open pit, an ore preparation plant, a bitumen processing plant, tailings preparation and management facilities, cogeneration facilities, support utilities, disposal and storage areas, river water intake, a fish habitat compensation lake, bridge, roads, airfield and camp.

Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Synenco Energy Inc. Northern Lights Oil Sands Mine Project. The proposal involves an oil sands surface mine and bitumen extraction facilities, including associated infrastructure, with a production capacity of 114,500 barrels per day. The location is approximately 100 km northeast of Fort McMurray in the Municipality of Wood Buffalo. The project was withdrawn in 2008. Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Birch Mountain Resources Ltd. Hammerstone Project (limestone quarry and quicklime plant). The proposal is for an expanded limestone quarry with a footprint of approximately 1500 hectares, a quicklime plant, cement plant and associated facilities for reclaiming the spent lime and reclamation of gypsum. The project location is in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, approximately 60 km north of Fort McMurray. The EIA was deemed complete in 2008. The proposal involves the expansion of the existing commercial project and is based on steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) thermal technology to increase by 40,000 barrels per day to a total of 73,000 barrels per day. The approximate location is 50 km northwest of Fort McMurray in the Municipality of Wood Buffalo. This EIA was deemed complete in 2007.
