Description

The Municipal Policing Assistance Grant Program (MPAG) helps communities meet the costs of policing services and supports government's commitment to address the financial impact of policing on municipalities. Municipalities are expected to use the funds to ensure adequate and effective policing and policing oversight, to assist in implementation of provincial policing initiatives, and/or to enhance policing services to residents. All municipalities that pay for their own policing qualify for this program. The grant is issued annually and no application is required. Recipients must provide reports on how the grant funds were used.

Description

The Municipal Policing Assistance Grant Program helps communities meet the costs of policing services and supports government's commitment to address the financial impact of policing on municipalities. Municipalities are expected to use the funds to ensure adequate and effective policing and policing oversight, to assist in implementation of provincial policing initiatives, and/or to enhance policing services to residents. This annotated bibliography reviews the findings of 65 major studies, surveys, conference proceedings, inquiries and reports published between 2003 to 2013 which focus on Indigenous women who have gone missing or who have been murdered in Canada and the violence associated with these events. The goal of this bibliography is to demonstrate the abundance of research in this area and to highlight recurring themes found in the literature.
