Environmental Assessment registry documents and Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Alberta Silica Corporation (ASC) Peace River Silica Sand Operations Project. (ASC is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Industrial Services Ltd. (UIS).) ASC is authorized to explore the silica sand under Metallic and Industrial Minerals Permit No. 9393080332; ASC is authorized to extract the silica sand under Metallic and Industrial Mineral Lease No. 9496110001; and to surface develop, on Crown land, the sand pits and the processing plant required under Mineral Surface Lease No. MSL 941817. The lease area comprises approximately 1300 hectares (3200 acres), 300 ha (740 acres) on the west side and approximately 1010 ha (2500 acres) on the east side of the Peace River. ASC has been operating a pilot-scale operation and is applying for approval to begin full-scale operations, under which the plant site and infrastructure will remain unchanged. New pits...

Alberta Environment conducted a mobile air quality monitoring survey near livestock feeding operations in the Lethbridge area from September 1998 to July 1999, in response to concerns voiced by local residents about odours from livestock feeding operations as well as a proposal for a hog processing plant in the Lethbridge area. Following the public release of the Alberta Environment report and a critique by the Chinook Health Region, a request was made by Alberta Environment for this independent review of the Alberta Environment study and the Chinook Health Region critique.

This study investigated the population ecology of grizzly bears in the boreal upland ecoregion in the Berland and Little Smoky rivers area in west central Alberta. Specific objectives of the study were to determine the size, density, productivity and stability of this grizzly bear population. Because grizzly bears occurred sympatrically with black bears, the study also obtained data on the population characteristics of black bears.

Residents of the Calder neigbourhood in Edmonton had concerns with diesel fume impacts on the air quality in the area resulting from a Canadian National rail yard located just south of the neighbourhood. Alberta Environment conducted mobile air monitoring surveys in the winter and summer of 2004 and the winter of 2005. In general, pollutant concentrations in the neighbourhood were not significantly different from concentrations measured at the comparison stations outside the Calder neighbourhood.

Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Canadian Natural Resources Limited Grouse In Situ Oil Sands Project. The proposal includes the use of steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology for extraction of bitumen, a bitumen processing facility with a capacity of 50,000 barrels per day (7,949 m3/d) and a production life of approximately 20 years. The location is approximately 75 kilometres northeast of Lac La Biche, Alberta in Lac La Biche County. The EIA was deemed complete in 2015.
