This info sheet provides information on the use of slaughter waste from an on-farm slaughter operation (OFSO) as bait for hunting and trapping purposes. Slaughter waste consists of butcher scraps and byproducts (e.g., trimmings, organs such as liver, heart, and lungs, etc.) that can be sold or otherwise provided as bait. The info sheet also includes information on the portions of the carcass that cannot be used as bait.

Description

This info-sheet provides the requirements for co-ownership of large live animals from an on-farm slaughter operation (OFSO). A large animal, such as bison, beef or elk is one that weighs more than 227 kg (500 lbs). Ownership of the large live animal is transferred when the OFSO sells the large live animal, to a maximum of four individuals, prior to slaughter. The transfer of ownership to the four individuals must be arranged prior to slaughter as the sale of uninspected meat remains illegal in Alberta.

The Alberta is Calling: Moving Bonus Program is part of the Alberta is Calling campaign which aims to attract skilled trade workers to fill critical labour shortages. The Alberta is Calling: Moving Bonus is a refundable tax credit of $5,000 for up to 2,000 eligible individuals who move to Alberta between May 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024, work in an eligible occupation and meet all remaining criteria. These application guidelines provide program information and eligibility requirements.

The following STANDATA were issued under the National Building Code–2023 Alberta edition. STANDATA, which include province-wide variances and interpretations, are specific to the version of the Code that they were issued under. Once a new Code comes into effect, all existing STANDATA are deemed to be obsolete and cannot be used for new construction. They are, however, still valid for evaluating code compliance of existing structures by fire services, insurance companies and by building inspectors in consideration of renovations and retrofits.
