Description

This Seniors, Community and Social Services (SCSS) dataset describes the monthly Income Support caseload in Alberta, including two client groups: those Expected to Work (ETW) and those who have Barriers to Full Employment (BFE). Income Support provides financial benefits to individuals and families who do not have the resources to meet their basic needs, like food, clothing, and shelter. The caseload is defined as the number of households categorized as ETW or BFE during a specific reporting period. Most commonly, this is reported as the average volume for a specific period (e.g., annually).   The composition of the caseload is made up of single individuals, lone-parent families, couples with children and couples without children. In April 2018, a breakdown of the number of caseloads by SCSS Regions was added to provide greater context.   Please Note: All regions report that the primary factor for reduced Income Support caseloads from April-2020 is due to Albertans...

This data set reflects child care programs in Alberta licensed under the Child Care Licensing Act (prior to February 2021) and under the Early Learning and Child Care Act (February 2021 and after).   Data prior to February 2021 included reflects child care programs in Alberta licensed under the Child Care Licensing Act. Program types under the Child Care Licensing Act included day care programs, out-of-school care programs, preschool programs, group family child care, family day homes (approved by a licensed family day home agency), and innovative child care programs.   In February 2021, child care licensing changed from program-based to facility-based under the Early Learning and Child Care Act. The Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program works with eligible families to provide support and services based on each child and family’s needs. Supports and services are individually determined. The level and nature of support a family receives varies depending on many factors, such as the child’s disability and the family’s individual circumstances.   The data goes back to April 2018 and tracks the number of Albertans accessing services from the FSCD program by service categories (e.g. family support, child-focused services, behavioural/developmental supports, specialized services, and out of home placement) across the province.

The Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program works with eligible families to provide support and services based on each child and family’s needs. Supports and services are individually determined. The level and nature of support a family receives varies depending on many factors such as the child’s disability and the family’s individual circumstances.   The data goes back to 2018/19 Quarter 1 (April to June) and tracks the cost of accessing services from the FSCD program by service categories (e.g. family support, child-focused services, behavioural/developmental supports, specialized services, and out of home placement) across the province on a quarterly basis.
