Description

This Seniors, Community and Social Services (SCSS) dataset describes the monthly Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) caseload in Alberta. The AISH program provides financial and health benefits to eligible adult Albertans with a permanent medical condition that prevents them from earning a living.   Caseloads are reported as the actual volume each month and by the Alberta government’s fiscal year. Depending on an individual’s situation, some AISH benefits may also be provided for a spouse or partner and dependent children.   Monthly caseloads are also shown as a portion of the entire Alberta population; and by gender, age, primary medical condition, family composition, employment participation and six service delivery regions across the province.   For locations of AISH delivery regions, choose the Alberta Seniors, Community and Social Services Regions Map within the Resources section.

The Government of Alberta conducts a survey of apartment vacancies annually between the months of May and August. The survey identifies building type, unit type, number of units, rental rates and the number of vacancies in Alberta communities with populations between 1,000 and 9,999 that have at least 30 or more rental units.

Description

This Seniors, Community and Social Services (SCSS) dataset describes the monthly Income Support caseload in Alberta, including two client groups: those Expected to Work (ETW) and those who have Barriers to Full Employment (BFE). Income Support provides financial benefits to individuals and families who do not have the resources to meet their basic needs, like food, clothing, and shelter. The caseload is defined as the number of households categorized as ETW or BFE during a specific reporting period. Most commonly, this is reported as the average volume for a specific period (e.g., annually).   The composition of the caseload is made up of single individuals, lone-parent families, couples with children and couples without children. In April 2018, a breakdown of the number of caseloads by SCSS Regions was added to provide greater context.   Please Note: All regions report that the primary factor for reduced Income Support caseloads from April-2020 is due to Albertans...

Alberta Health monitors all supportive living and long-term care accommodations for compliance to the Accommodation Standards, the Resident and Family Councils Act (RFCA) and the Continuing Care Health Service Standards (CCHSS). The purpose of the Accommodation Standards is to ensure accommodations maintain a high quality of accommodation services (e.g. meals, building maintenance, security and housekeeping) that promote the safety, security and quality of life of Albertans living in those accommodations. The RFCA is intended to support residents and their families in establishing an effective Resident and Family Council. The CCHSS are a set of legislated, minimum standards that operators must comply with in the provision of health care (e.g., medication management, care planning, staff training). This Children and Family Services dataset provides an overview of the number of children and youth receiving post-intervention support through Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP) Agreements, by Indigenous status (Indigenous and Non-Indigenous). Young adults aged 18 to 24 who were previously involved with child intervention may be eligible for ongoing supports through TAP Agreements. TAP Agreements are based on the identified need of the young adult and can include financial support as well as support for housing, education, access to health services, vocational skills development, life skills mentoring, and connections to community and/or family members in order to support their successful transition to adulthood.   The data shows the average monthly number of Indigenous and non-Indigenous young adults in the province who were receiving post-intervention support through a TAP Agreement with historical information dating back ten years.   TAP was implemented in the...
