The Bighorn Dam is located west of Nordegg in Clearwater County, downstream of Abraham Lake and is managed by TransAlta. The leased lands around the dam are popular for recreation and increased random camping and OHV use has raised dam and public safety concerns. The Government of Alberta is implementing recreation management efforts and funding investments to conserve and protect the area and public safety.
