Building Strength, Inspiring Hope: A Provincial Action Plan for Youth Suicide Prevention 2019 – 2024 was released in March 2019. One of the actions the Government of Alberta committed to was to support the co-creation of First Nations and Métis youth suicide prevention graphic novels to provide an awareness resource that is reflective of the experiences of Indigenous youth. Children’s Services partnered with Indigenous Story Studio to create two graphic novels related to suicide prevention and mental health promotion; one reflects a First Nations story and the other a Métis story, both with a focus on wellness. The graphic novels were created through engagement with Indigenous youth across Alberta.

It supports planning and action by providing information on safety legislation and standards, health and safety hazards, and example procedures for eliminating or minimizing hazards. The materials in this health and safety resource have been compiled from sources believed to be reliable and accurate and to represent the best of current thinking on the subject. This resource is intended to serve as a starting point for planning good practices, but does not purport to specify the level of technical detail that some users may require or to have anticipated every circumstance where health and safety may be a factor.
