Description

The AMDO (Alberta Mineral Deposits and Occurrences) application was created by the Minerals and Coal Geoscience Section of the Alberta Geological Survey as a database for mineral deposits in Alberta in the early 1990s. It was originally released as Open File Report OFR 1991-17. Industrial minerals from that data source have been extracted into Microsoft Access, their locations refined or corrected and presented in GIS format.

Stratagex Ltd was contracted by the AGS in 2001 to compile a catalogue of all existing ground and airborne geophysical survey data contained in the archived mining assessment reports of the AGS, supplemented where possible with information on non-exclusive and proprietary surveys from exploration industry and other sources. The database is a compilation of data from many different sources and contains information on 7923 wells (15,200 formation picks. 37,357 coal picks. 495 coal analyses. and 363 vitrinite reflectance measurements).
