The Alberta Activity Index (AAX) closely tracks economic activity. Developed by Alberta Treasury Board and Finance, it is a weighted average of nine monthly indicators (employment, average weekly earnings, retail trade, wholesale trade, manufacturing, new truck sales, housing starts, rigs drilling and oil production). Description

The Province of Alberta has established several programs to meet its borrowing requirements through the issuance of bonds in the domestic and international capital markets. The programs in place are detailed in this document. Establishing programs in different markets provides the Province with diverse sources of funding and ongoing access to domestic and international markets. Issuances are done in a variety of sizes, major currencies and maturities, through syndicated public bond offerings and private placements. For more information, visit investor.alberta.ca.

The Alberta Spatial Price Survey measures price differences between selected Alberta communities for a basket of goods and services at a specific point in time, using Edmonton as the index base. This means that Edmonton is benchmarked at 100.0 and serves as the basis of comparison. As such, communities having an index value above (or below) 100.0 experienced higher (or lower) prices than Edmonton for a particular basket of commodities.
