Description
This report presented the findings of a 2005 survey conducted by Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation, in collaboration with Alberta Children's Services and Alberta Municipal Affairs, to assess specialized transportation services for seniors and persons with disabilities across Alberta. The study targeted public service providers and analyzed responses from 89 communities. It revealed that approximately 79 per cent of Albertans had access to specialized transportation, with nearly 50,000 registered users. The report examined service availability, scheduling practices, vehicle inventories, funding sources, unmet demand, and future projections. It concluded that demand was expected to increase significantly, especially due to Alberta's aging population, and recommended improved data tracking, resource pooling, and funding awareness.
