This document presents the government’s response to each of the 16 recommendations made by the FCSS Review Advisory Committee in their December 2006 report. The Committee was established in the Spring of 2005 to identify program strengths and opportunities and explore possible strategies and means of improving collaboration and efficiency between Family and Community Support Services and Child and Family Services Authorities.

Description

In spring 2005, the Minister of Children's Services requested a review of the Family and Community Support Services Program to identify program strengths and opportunities and explore possible strategies and means of improving collaboration and efficiency between FCSS and Child and Family Services Authorities. The review also looked at the unique challenges of rural FCSS programs, as well as the accountability of FCSS programs and their ability to use their partnerships and connection in the community to leverage additional funds.

As a result of this research, a set of six papers were released in the Working Together series. In 1998-1999, the FCSS Association of Alberta conducted a research project to learn the experiences of Family and Community Support Services programs in working with others. As a result of this research, a set of six papers were released in the Working Together series. This paper, the fourth in the series, discusses how FCSS can work in cooperation with local agencies and community groups to enhance the social well-being of individuals and families through promotion or intervention strategies provided at the earliest opportunity.

In 1998-1999, the FCSS Association of Alberta conducted a research project to learn the experiences of Family and Community Support Services programs in working with others. As a result of this research, a set of six papers were released in the Working Together series. This paper, the first in the series, provides theoretical information about working together in general. It summarizes: why FCSS programs work with others; bridges and barriers to working together; working across organizational cultures; and three challenges and opportunities for FCSS working together in the future.

In 1998-1999, the FCSS Association of Alberta conducted a research project to learn the experiences of Family and Community Support Services programs in working with others. As a result of this research, a set of six papers were released in the Working Together series. This paper, the third in the series, identifies types of partnership and cooperation that exist between FCSS-funded municipalities and Métis settlements, with special attention given to the experiences of multi-municipality programs and single-municipality programs.
