The purpose of the Provincial Affordable Housing Strategy is to give Albertans in government-supported affordable housing the tools they need to build better lives for themselves. The Strategy outlines the direction for a flexible and responsive affordable housing system that will support low-income Albertans, including seniors, with safe, suitable and affordable homes. It focuses on five main elements: investing now and for the future; integrated housing and supports; successful transitions and aging in community; fairness and flexibility; and creating a sustainable system. This document provides a snapshot of the Provincial Affordable Housing Strategy and some of the actions the Government of Alberta is taking to make life better for Albertans in affordable housing.

Aboriginal people in Alberta face different socioeconomic circumstances than other Albertans. At the provincial level in 2011, Aboriginal people had lower incomes and were less likely to be in the labour force. If they were participating in the labour force, they were more likely to be unemployed. Almost three times as many Aboriginal people reported low educational attainment compared with non‑Aboriginal Albertans. Aboriginal seniors were more likely to be living in low income and less likely to be living alone. The proportion of Aboriginal children living in low income was over twice the comparable rate for non‑Aboriginal children.

Ce recueil vise donc à servir d’outil utile pour : présenter un aperçu des nombreux projets et pratiques novateurs et fructueux de l’ICTA qui ont été mis en oeuvre par les provinces et les territoires, ainsi que décrire et diffuser les leçons apprises; aider les P/T ou les promoteurs de projet à reproduire les modèles de l’ICTA pour d’autres populations ou d’autres programmes relatifs au marché du travail pour les travailleurs âgés; fournir des sources supplémentaires de connaissances sur le programme afin de compléter l’information produite par d’autres moyens, notamment les études d’évaluation, les présentations lors d’atelier et les portraits partagés par les P/T.
