Description

As part of the Government of Alberta’s commitment to be open and accountable to the public, all ministries are required to prepare and make public three-year ministry business plans. The ministry business plan encompasses the department and all consolidated entities, and aligns with the strategic direction of the Government of Alberta. Each business plan includes a description of the ministry, desired outcomes, priority initiatives, and performance measures and indicators. Current and forecast budgeting information for the planning period is also included.

This plan outlines the roles and responsibilities of the potential government organizations (federal, provincial and municipal) that may be required to provide the CFIA with the support needed to ensure the coordinated, efficient and effective prevention and/or eradication of a foreign animal disease in Alberta. The plan also presents an opportunity for private sector organizations to participate by developing emergency response plans to support the disease control effort.

HIIA is differentiated from other emergency and disaster response and recovery in that law enforcement has a defined police crisis management role separate from emergency management structures. This plan will apply when the coordination of crisis management and consequence management is necessary to resolve a HIIA.
