This report reflects the name and status in effect for each municipality at the time the report was produced. Eligible capital projects include municipal roads, bridges, public transit vehicles/facilities, emergency services facilities/equipment, water and wastewater systems, solid waste management facilities/equipment, regional and community airport facilities/equipment, and other municipal buildings such as recreation and sports facilities, libraries, public works buildings, and cultural and community centres.

The discussion paper Continuing the Conversation was released by Municipal Affairs in November 2016 to initiate a second round of discussion of the Modernized Municipal Government Act, which was introduced in the Spring 2016 sitting of the Legislature. This document provides a high-level summary of the input heard from participants throughout winter 2016/2017 in response to the discussion paper.

On May 31, 2016, Bill 21, the Modernized Municipal Government Act (MMGA), was introduced to the Legislative Assembly. Following introduction, Municipal Affairs began meeting with stakeholders to gather their thoughts on the proposed changes to the Municipal Government Act. Feedback was gathered over the summer of 2016 and changes to the MMGA were introduced during the Fall 2016 session of the Legislature. Municipal Affairs also began a second round of discussions, with this paper being used to continue the conversation and to raise some technical or clarifying changes that may be necessary to improve the act's effectiveness. The paper includes a discussion and description of emerging topics and how the act could be amended to address them, and a listing of proposed general technical amendments.
