Description

The Government of Alberta contracted third party consultant Ernst & Young, to examine efficiencies and find potential savings in the procurement of goods, services, and construction as well as in the way infrastructure projects are delivered. This is the final report submitted to government by Ernst & Young. The Action Plan outlines how the Government of Alberta is moving forward to strengthen its processes based on the opportunities for improvement outlined in the Ernst & Young final report.

The Scotford Upgrader is owned by the Athabasca Oil Sands Project, a joint venture operated by Shell Canada Energy and owned by Canadian Natural Upgrading Limited, Chevron Canada Oil Sands Partnership, and 1745844 Alberta Ltd. The Upgrader is part of Shell’s Scotford facility located northeast of Edmonton.

This resource includes a summary, highlights and background information of a study undertaken to provide information on long-term planning and opportunity for handling water within the Designated Industrial Zone in Alberta's Industrial Heartland, with the aim of developing a regionalized hybrid water supply and distribution model to optimize the use of new and existing water supply infrastructure within the area. The study, prepared by Stantec Consulting under contract to Alberta Environment and Parks, also considered options for wastewater management and explored management approaches through the use of a jurisdictional review. The full Stantec report is included as an attachment to the publication.
