Therefore, this guidance document was created to assist operators on how to properly follow-up with investigative sampling for rural/trickle fill waterworks systems.

The Water Treatment Program Manual was designed as an information source for building managers and operating personnel, on the various types of systems operating within these facilities. It also serves as a reference guide, providing detailed information relative to the water system description, operation and maintenance, water treatment requirements, control tests, chemicals and reagents and controlled emission of chemical waste products.

Bitumen produced from Alberta's oil sands must be upgraded into synthetic crude oil before it can be processed by oil refineries. A number of companies have proposed to construct upgraders in Alberta's Industrial Heartland. These upgraders consume large quantities of water for process, cooling and other demands. This study provides an analysis of water volumes and qualities needed for the upgrading process, and outlines a process to select Best Available Technology Economically Achievable for upgrader wastewater treatment. The results of the study are intended to help regulators and other interested parties assess the impacts of proposed upgrader projects.
