This dataset is produced for the Government of Alberta and is available to the general public. Please consult the Distribution Information of this metadata for the appropriate contact to acquire this dataset. The Alberta Ground Cover Classification Mosaic is a land cover dataset for the province of Alberta. It is a composite of the Alberta Ground Cover Classification (AGCC) created by Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development for the green areas of the province and the Land Cover for Agricultural Regions of Canada, circa 2000 created by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada for the white areas of the province.

It focused on Census District 11, which includes the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas of Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Stony Plain, Fort Saskatchewan, and other towns and villages in the region. Topics covered in the study include: consumer awareness, market value, market profiles and the growth potential of local food market channels; top local food items; gaps in the supply of local food items/attributes; production attributes and other motivators that attract consumers to local food; barriers to consumer support for local food; and consumer perceptions of food and agriculture issues.

The proposal involves a Gas To Liquid Facility (GTL) that will convert natural gas to GTL liquid products, with a production capacity of 96,000 barrels per day, of GTL diesel, GTL naptha and liquefied petroleum gas. The purpose of this report is to chronicle the baseline soil features of the Mundare (04-AB) Benchmark Site, thereby providing a technical reference document in support of on-going monitoring research and reporting. The Mundare site is one of 23 benchmark-monitoring sites established across Canada by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to collect baseline data to monitor trends in soil quality. It represents Black soils of the Aspen Parkland Ecoregion. The landscape is representative of the undulating to ridged and hummocky morainal terrain that is common in central Alberta.

The purpose of this report is to chronicle the baseline soil features of the Bow Island (06-AB) Benchmark Site, thereby providing a technical reference document in support of on-going monitoring research and reporting. The Bow Island site is one of 23 benchmark-monitoring sites established across Canada by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to collect baseline data to monitor trends in soil quality. It represents irrigated Brown soils of the Mixed Grassland ecoregion. The landscape is representative of the gently undulating, morainal terrain (with lacustrine veneer) that is common in southeastern Alberta.

The purpose of this report is to chronicle the baseline soil features of the Falher (03-AB) Benchmark Site, thereby providing a technical reference document in support of on-going monitoring research and reporting. The Falher site is one of 23 benchmark-monitoring sites established across Canada by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to collect baseline data to monitor trends in soil quality. It represents Dark Gray soils of the Peace Lowland Ecoregion. The landscape is representative of the level glaciolacustrine terrain common to the southeastern portion of the Peace River agricultural region.

The report presents an overview of the physiography, climate, ecology, general soil patterns, and selected agricultural interpretations for the Gleichen SW map sheet. The accompanying soil map displays patterns of soils at a moderate level of detail. The soils were distinguished by patterns that relate to other landscape features such as landform and slope. Soil and terrain characteristics were interpreted for three agricultural applications: production of spring-seeded small grains, irrigation, and range productivity. The generalized ratings or capability classes are intended as guidelines for land use planners and managers. Agricultural land use, land suitability for production, and land management are briefly discussed.
