Description

To support the work of the Feral Horse Advisory Committee, the Office of the Chief Scientist, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (EPA) was asked to summarize the state of information related to feral horse populations in Alberta. The Office of the Chief Scientist provides independent scientific advice to address complex environmental challenges and opportunities Alberta faces. This knowledge document is intended to share a summary of best available knowledge from the body of peer-reviewed scientific literature about feral horse survey methodology as well as survey data collection approaches used by the Government of Alberta.

To support the work of the Feral Horse Advisory Committee, the Office of the Chief Scientist, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (EPA) was asked to summarize the state of information related to feral horse populations in Alberta. The Office of the Chief Scientist provides independent scientific advice to address complex environmental challenges and opportunities Alberta faces. This knowledge document is intended to share a summary of best available knowledge from the body of peer-reviewed scientific literature about the origin of horses and factors affecting feral horse population dynamics as well as a summary of the Government of Alberta minimum count survey results between 2013 and 2021.

More specifically, it shows the number in varying placement options with historical information dating back ten years.   Information is available through the links listed below as aggregate data in excel, as visualizations in CI Interactive Data Tool and as descriptions of data fields and elements in the Data Dictionary.

This Children and Family Services dataset provides an overview of the number of children and youth receiving child intervention services by type of care and sex.   Child intervention services are focused on the well-being of children, supporting families to be healthy and ensuring children grow up in safe and nurturing homes.   The data shows the average monthly number of Indigenous and non-Indigenous children and youth in the province who are receiving child intervention services. More specifically, it shows the number in temporary care, permanent care and receiving services while at home (not in care) with historical information dating back ten years. There is a further breakdown by the number of children served by sex.   Information is available through the links listed below as aggregate data in excel, as visualizations in CI Interactive Data Tool and as descriptions of data fields and elements in the Data Dictionary.
