A conservation offset is a tool that enables industry to offset adverse effects of their activities and development by supporting conservation efforts on other lands. In 2009 the Government of Alberta commissioned a study to conduct an analysis of conservation offset options for Alberta. The objective of the study was to evaluate a suite of design options in terms of their ecological and economic impacts and their institutional feasibility. The purpose of the analysis is to provide a deeper understanding of the impact of different offset design options on policy goals, and demonstrate through a proof of concept how different policy options could work in a scaled-up regulated offset market.

A conservation offset is a tool that enables industry to offset adverse effects of their activities and development by supporting conservation efforts on other lands. In 2009 the Government of Alberta commissioned a study to conduct an analysis of conservation offset options for Alberta. It examines the short- and long-term economic benefits of EOR and CCS in Alberta as a way of unlocking Alberta's resource and industrial potential. Challenges are highlighted, and specific opportunities for action to address those challenges are identified. The report begins with the conclusion of the Energy Resource Committee, followed by its 13 Recommendations for action.

The North Saskatchewan Regional Advisory Council was appointed by Cabinet to provide strategic advice in the development of the North Saskatchewan Regional Plan. In its advice submitted to the government in December 2014, the council provided 69 recommendations in six topic areas: managing wetlands and lakes as part of watershed management; supporting biodiversity in the region; inclusion of Indigenous Peoples in land-use planning; community growth and community land-use planning; management of outdoor recreation; and economic development.

This addendum outlines Forest Management Plan-specific ground rules which apply to area outlined in Forest Management Agreement 0900044 and 0900045. These rules are in addition to the Alberta Timber Harvest Planning and Operating Ground Rules 2022. Where a rule in the Addendum and a rule in the Provincial OGR relate to the same subject matter or objective, the rule in the Addendum governs. FMP-specific addendums are supplemental to the OGRs and will be negotiated with the applicable FMA holder where additional ground rules are needed to address specific strategies in an FMP or unique physical or non-physical landscape attributes. These are meant to be a small list related to specific FMP requirements and not a preferred deviation or exceptions from the provincial OGRs.
