Description

This addendum outlines Forest Management Plan-specific ground rules which apply to area outlined in Forest Management Agreement 9700032. These rules are in addition to the Alberta Timber Harvest Planning and Operating Ground Rules 2022. Where a rule in the Addendum and a rule in the Provincial OGR relate to the same subject matter or objective, the rule in the Addendum governs. FMP-specific addendums are supplemental to the OGRs and will be negotiated with the applicable FMA holder where additional ground rules are needed to address specific strategies in an FMP or unique physical or non-physical landscape attributes. These are meant to be a small list related to specific FMP requirements and not a preferred deviation or exceptions from the provincial OGRs.

This dataset is produced for the Government of Alberta and is available to the general public. Please consult the Distribution Information of this metadata for the appropriate contact to acquire this dataset. Alberta Land Inventory (ALI) and Canada Land Inventory (CLI) Landform consists of a single polygon feature class with associated attributes. These attributes describe the landform polygons in terms of parent geologic material, surface form, generalized texture, and slope. The attribution includes the original ALI/CLI coding as well as the equivalent Physical Land Classification (PLC) codes. CLI and ALI landform polygons were photo interpreted in the 1960's and 70's. The linework was transferred to mylar overlay and 319 maps were published at a scale of 1:63360, using the National Topographic Series (NTS) maps as a base. The structure of the map symbols is slightly different for the two series. There is additional free-form text on the CLI landform maps to describe the direction...

Crown forest management plans (FMPs) detail when, where and how timber on Alberta Crown land will be managed in order to balance social, economic and environmental needs based on input from the public, Indigenous peoples and interest groups. A component of a FMP called a timber supply analysis (TSA) was prepared by Mercer Peace River Pulp Ltd. (Formerly known as Daishowa-Marubeni International Ltd.). The TSA covers PO5, P22 and S26 (Formerly PO1 and PO3) located in northern Alberta within the Upper and Lower Peace Land-use Framework planning regions; they fall within the Dry Mixedwood, Peace River Parkland, Lower Boreal Highlands and Central Mixedwood Natural Subregions.

The main purpose of the inventory was to provide reliable volume estimates and location of the aspen timber resources within the White Area of the province. This document provides an overview of and rationale for the development of the inventory, and establishes procedures and guidelines for the interpretation of aerial photography that could be used to develop the inventory.

The project would be developed in four phases, supported by cogeneration of electricity to be constructed within the first two phases. Project components include gas fired steam generation including some cogeneration, water treatment and recycling, bitumen treatment, multi-well production pads, steam delivery pipelines, product recovery pipelines, local access roads, and borrow pits. The Alberta Vegetation Inventory Standards Manual has been developed to support the collection of detailed vegetation information, which is necessary for Forest Management Agreement holders and the government department responsible for forestry matters to provide the best possible forest management plans, wildlife habitat classifications and integrated resource management plans. Major changes in Version 2.1 of the manual include dropping references to "productive" and "non-productive" forest land, changing the term "Site Index" to "Timber Productivity Rating", adding additional Field Check types, dropping "Photo Interpretation and Base Map Procedures and Specifications" as well as "Standards" (audit) from the manual.
