Alberta's Water Act requires that a licence and/or an approval be obtained prior to diversion of water or prior to undertaking an activity, as defined in the Act, in or around a water body. The information required to apply for a licence or an approval is dependent upon the purpose of the diversion of water and type of proposed water source or the type and location of activity. This guide will assist project proponents in completing an application for common application types.
