Description

The regulation outlines the requirements for pesticide applicators (including classes of certificates) and vendor registration and certification in Alberta. The regulation classifies pesticides into Schedules, outlines requirements for Special Use Approvals, and provides guidance on the sales, use and handling of pesticides, as well as records management.

Description

The regulation supports the Wildlife Act in managing Alberta’s wildlife. It addresses: hunting, trapping, collection, and possession of wildlife, and adds protections for endangered animals; sale, import and export of wildlife, controlled animals (non-native animals that are regulated), and endangered species, and the possession of animals in captivity; identification and categorization of wildlife species and controlled animals; permits - many species of wildlife and all controlled possessed live animals require permits. Permits are required for the import, export, research, wildlife rehabilitation and falconry, and for commercial activities such as outfitting and guiding, buying fur, taxidermy, tanning and zoos; wildlife damage to property; and wildlife sanctuaries and other special areas where wildlife are protected from the activities of humans.

Description

The Act provides the Government of Alberta with authority to administer, allocate, and enter into agreements with respect to minerals. It applies to all mines and minerals and related natural resources belonging to the Crown including wells, mines, quarries and minerals. The Act defines mines and minerals, and sets out how agreements in respect to minerals are established, renewed or cancelled. The Act is administered by Energy except for Part 8, which is administered by Environment and Parks along with the related Exploration Regulation and the Metallic and Industrial Minerals Exploration Regulation. All exploration for oil and gas, and metallic or industrial minerals requires approval by Environment and Parks.
