Alberta is introducing a new policy that will support opportunities for apprentices in 11 trades to actively participate on significant public infrastructure and transportation projects. Among the projects that could be considered under this policy are road and bridge construction, and public buildings.

Presents the findings of an investigation into a workplace fatality in the mining and petroleum development sector that occurred in July, 2013. An apprentice heavy duty mechanic was working to troubleshoot lights on a vibrating drum packer. The mechanic fell out of the packer while exiting. When he fell, the packer moved forward and the rear left tire ran over the mechanic, causing fatal injuries.
