This addendum outlines forest management plan-specific ground rules which apply to area outlined in Forest Management Agreement 0200040. These rules are in addition to the Alberta Timber Harvest Planning and Operating Ground Rules 2023. Where a rule in the addendum and a rule in the provincial OGR relate to the same subject matter or objective, the rule in the addendum governs. FMP-specific addendums are supplemental to the OGRs and will be negotiated with the applicable FMA holder where additional ground rules are needed to address specific strategies in an FMP or unique physical or non-physical landscape attributes.

The details of where, when and how trees on Crown land in Alberta are harvested and managed for sustainability are contained in forest management plans approved by the Government of Alberta, with input from the public and other stakeholders. Forest management plans prepared by industry are a requirement of Forest Management Agreements (FMA) negotiated between the Government of Alberta and forest companies. Forest management plans provide direction for sustainable management of forest resources. FMA 9100029 is allocated to Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. and consists of 11 forest management units (FMU) A16, L1, L2, L3, L8, L11, S11, S14, S18, S22, and S23. The FMA area is located in northeastern Alberta and falls predominately within Central Mixedwood, Upper and Lower Boreal Highlands, and Athabasca Plain natural sub-regions.

The agreement duration is from May 1, 2022 to April 30, 2042. The original agreement commenced on September 11, 2002.

This addendum outlines Forest Management Unit-specific ground rules which apply to Forest Management Agreement 0200040 as well as Forest Management Units F11, F14, and F51. These rules are in addition to the Alberta Timber Harvest Planning and Operating Ground Rules 2022. Where a rule in the Addendum and a rule in the Provincial OGR relate to the same subject matter or objective, the rule in the Addendum governs. FMP-specific addendums are supplemental to the OGRs and will be negotiated with the applicable FMA holder where additional ground rules are needed to address specific strategies in an FMP or unique physical or non-physical landscape attributes. These are meant to be a small list related to specific FMP requirements and not a preferred deviation or exceptions from the provincial OGRs.

This document outlines the ground rules which apply to the area outlined in Forest Management Agreement 0200040 as well as Forest Management Units F11, F14, and F51. Ground rules are the practices used in planning and conducting timber harvesting operations. They constitute the methods used to implement decisions made in forest management plans and other higher-level plans such as integrated resource plans. In the event that these strategic plans do not exist, the ground rules shall establish practices that minimize the chance of negative impacts from roads, timber harvesting and forest management operations and activities.
