Description

Alberta’s Investment and Growth Strategy is an initiative led by the Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Innovation to drive investment, diversification and job creation. The strategy builds on Alberta’s Recovery Plan to help Alberta’s economy recover and grow. It also addresses longer-term actions needed to create a strong, cohesive investment attraction ecosystem so Alberta can adapt to new opportunities that arise as the global economy changes.

The South Saskatchewan Regional Plan establishes a long-term vision for the South Saskatchewan Region and aligns provincial policies at the regional level to balance Alberta's economic, environmental and social goals. The regional plan also includes strategies for responsible energy development, sustainable farming and ranching, recreation, forest management, and nature-based tourism. It has been established under the Alberta Land Stewardship Act, and the Land Use Framework. This version of the SSRP was amended in May 2018, and came into effect on May 31, 2018.

Alberta’s Land-use Framework (LUF), released in December 2008, sets out a new approach to managing the province’s land and natural resources to achieve Alberta’s long-term economic, environmental and social goals. The LUF establishes seven new land-use regions and calls for the development of a regional plan for each. The South Saskatchewan Regional Plan sets the stage for robust growth, vibrant communities and a healthy environment within the region over the next 50 years. This resource presents an amendment of the original plan published in 2014.
