Description

Monthly notice of the general rate of timber dues for timber that is used to make deciduous timber, including the portion of timber dues collected by the Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (“FRIAA”). Timber dues and other fees associated with timber dispositions are collected by the province to ensure that Albertans receive fair compensation for the use of publicly-owned forest resources. The timber dues rates applied are based on current market and financial conditions are can be found in Table 3 of the Timber Dues Ministerial Order.

Monthly notice of the general rate of timber dues for timber that is used to make lumber, pulp or roundwood products, including the portion of dues collected by the Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (“FRIAA”). Timber dues and other fees associated with timber dispositions are collected by the province to ensure that Albertans receive fair compensation for the use of publicly-owned forest resources. The timber dues rates applied are based on current market and financial conditions are can be found in Table 1 of the Timber Dues Ministerial Order.

Reforestation in Alberta is the responsibility, by law, of those who harvest trees on Crown Land. Companies that harvest trees are required to report the result of their reforestation activities to the government annually (by May 15). Reforestation activities and their associated results are audited annually by AF and this information is used to ensure that forestry activities are conducted in a sustainable manner and in compliance with legislation.
