The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is investigating the circumstances surrounding an RCMP officer-involved shooting that occurred during a confrontation with a 54-year-old man in Whitehorse, Yukon. Pursuant to an agreement between the Yukon and Alberta governments, investigations of serious incidents involving Yukon RCMP are conducted by ASIRT.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team will take conduct of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the use of force in the April 5, 2015 arrest of a male person by an RCMP officer in Whitehorse. A short video was taken that reflects, in part, the contact between the officer and the male person. The video was subsequently posted on Facebook.

In some wildland parks, trails and primitive backcountry campsites are provided to minimize visitor impacts on natural heritage values. Whitehorse Wildland Park, established in August 1998, is 60 kilometres south of Hinton. The park is approximately 175 square kilometres in size.
