This document presents the government’s response to each of the 16 recommendations made by the FCSS Review Advisory Committee in their December 2006 report. The Committee was established in the Spring of 2005 to identify program strengths and opportunities and explore possible strategies and means of improving collaboration and efficiency between Family and Community Support Services and Child and Family Services Authorities.

Description

In spring 2005, the Minister of Children's Services requested a review of the Family and Community Support Services Program to identify program strengths and opportunities and explore possible strategies and means of improving collaboration and efficiency between FCSS and Child and Family Services Authorities. The review also looked at the unique challenges of rural FCSS programs, as well as the accountability of FCSS programs and their ability to use their partnerships and connection in the community to leverage additional funds.

In 1998-1999, the FCSS Association of Alberta conducted a research project to learn the experiences of Family and Community Support Services programs in working with others. As a result of this research, a set of six papers were released in the Working Together series. This paper, the seventh in the series, follows up on this previous research to look at how Family and Community Support Services works with the justice system.

In 1998-1999, the FCSS Association of Alberta conducted a research project to learn the experiences of Family and Community Support Services programs in working with others. As a result of this research, a set of six papers were released in the Working Together series. This paper, the fourth in the series, discusses how FCSS can work in cooperation with local agencies and community groups to enhance the social well-being of individuals and families through promotion or intervention strategies provided at the earliest opportunity.

In 1998-1999, the FCSS Association of Alberta conducted a research project to learn the experiences of Family and Community Support Services programs in working with others. As a result of this research, a set of six papers were released in the Working Together series. This paper, the fifth in the series, looks at how FCSS can work with Child and Family Services Authorities to foster beneficial working relationships.
