This document provides general design parameters for reclaiming planned borrow and aggregate excavations into constructed habitat wetlands for the Boreal Forest Natural Region of Alberta, specifically for the Dry Mixedwood Natural Subregion (Figure 1.0), that may be suitable for the Alberta Transportation’s Wetland Habitat Bank Initiative. These sites may be used by the Department elsewhere to mitigate for wetland disturbance when avoidance and minimization is not an option.

Provides information for completing the Evaluation Form for Assessing Candidate Sites for Alberta Transportation’s Wetland Habitat Bank, which Alberta Transportation uses to offer a a clear and consistent approach to evaluate candidate sites. Candidate sites are wetlands that have been constructed, enhanced or restored for the purpose of wetland compensation and have the potential to meet the Department's criteria to be transferred and reflected in the its wetland habitat bank.
