This report focuses on recruitment and employment practices for persons with disabilities. There is an information scan on the persons with disabilities population in Canada and Alberta, as well as their income, occupations, education and barriers to employment. The report also summarizes survey results from 800 Calgary employers, who were asked about their recruitment and employment practices for persons with disabilities. It demonstrates the progress that has been made and the work that still needs to be done to fully integrate and include this population in the workforce.

For the purpose of this profile, older workers are defined as those people who are aged 45+ years. Population of Alberta's Older Workers: In 2007, Alberta had the lowest proportion of older workers in Canada. The number of older workers in Alberta's working age population (WAP) grew by 48.4% between 1997 and 2007. In 2007, 43.5% of Alberta's WAP was older workers.
