Les élèves de l’Alberta retourneront à l’école à l’automne 2021 et la plupart d’entre eux retourneront à l’apprentissage en personne. Afin de réduire la propagation de la COVID-19 et d’autres maladies respiratoires, les écoles adopteront, dans leurs activités normales pour l’année scolaire 2021-2022, des recommandations visant le respect des mesures de santé publique. Il s’agira entre autres d’encourager les membres du personnel et les élèves admissibles à se faire vacciner contre la COVID-19 et la grippe, de mettre en place des mesures environnementales comme l’entretien des systèmes de ventilation et des normes de nettoyage régulier, de promouvoir l’hygiène des mains, l’étiquette respiratoire et le repos à la maison quand on est malade. Les écoles ne seront pas tenues de mettre en oeuvre toutes les mesures sanitaires en place durant l’année scolaire 2020-2021. Students in Alberta will return to school for fall 2021, with in-person learning for the majority of students. In order to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses, schools will incorporate recommendations that support good public health practices into their normal operations for the 2021-2022 school year. This includes supporting all staff and eligible students to get vaccinated for COVID-19 and influenza, implementing environmental measures such as maintaining ventilation systems and routine cleaning standards, promoting hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and staying home when sick. Schools will not be expected to follow all the previous measures used during the 2020-2021 school year.

In June 2018 the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate released an investigative review examining the lives of twelve youth who died from opioid poisoning between October 2015 and September 2017. The review identified opportunities for system improvements in five areas, with five corresponding recommendations. All five recommendations have been accepted by the Government of Alberta, as outlined in this document.
