This data set reflects child care programs in Alberta licensed under the Child Care Licensing Act (prior to February 2021) and under the Early Learning and Child Care Act (February 2021 and after).   Data prior to February 2021 included reflects child care programs in Alberta licensed under the Child Care Licensing Act. Program types under the Child Care Licensing Act included day care programs, out-of-school care programs, preschool programs, group family child care, family day homes (approved by a licensed family day home agency), and innovative child care programs.   In February 2021, child care licensing changed from program-based to facility-based under the Early Learning and Child Care Act. There are now four types of licenses: facility-based programs, group family child care programs, family day homes (approved by a licensed family day home agency), and innovative child care programs. The Student Transportation Task Force was created in the spring of 2020 to review student transportation service across the province. The task force's mandate was to provide a report to the Minister of Education that contains recommendations related, but not limited, to: school board and industry responsibility for student transportation; student transportation eligibility; student transportation legislation and regulation; student transportation safety; and student transportation co-operation among partners. The report was provided to the Minister of Education in late 2020.

Building Strength, Inspiring Hope: A Provincial Action Plan for Youth Suicide Prevention 2019 – 2024 was released in March 2019. One of the actions the Government of Alberta committed to was to support the co-creation of First Nations and Métis youth suicide prevention graphic novels to provide an awareness resource that is reflective of the experiences of Indigenous youth. Children’s Services partnered with Indigenous Story Studio to create two graphic novels related to suicide prevention and mental health promotion; one reflects a First Nations story and the other a Métis story, both with a focus on wellness. The graphic novels were created through engagement with Indigenous youth across Alberta.
