Description

The funding manual assists school jurisdictions, charter schools, accredited funded private schools and private ECS operators in accessing and understanding Alberta Education funding. It provides details on the funding available for the school year and includes applicable formulas, funding rates, criteria and reporting requirements. Funding from Alberta Education supports the provision of approved education programs for students and children in Early Childhood Services (ECS) to Grade 12.

Each jurisdiction report includes projected operational funding for the 2020/2021 school year. These are preliminary projections and each jurisdiction will have the opportunity to validate their individual student enrolment projections in order for the department to finalize the grant allocation for the 2020/2021 school year. Each jurisdiction will receive a commitment letter from the Minister in mid-April on the operational school year funding for 2020/2021.

Each jurisdiction report includes projected operational funding for the 2019/2020 school year. These are projections and may not reflect the amount paid to the school jurisdiction. Reports also includes student enrolment projections based on the 2019/20 September 30th enrolment, data on the financial health of the school jurisdiction, and projected funding support from other sources. Please note that the amount of funding paid to a jurisdiction will be based on actual student enrolment and courses taken by high school students during the school year, which may be higher or lower than the projection.
