The Governments of Alberta and Canada have signed a one-year amending agreement which extends the terms and conditions of the Protocol for Agreements for Minority-Language Education and Second-Language Instruction 2013-2018 and the Canada-Alberta Agreement for Minority-Language Education and Second-Language Instruction 2013-2018 into 2019-2020. This is the second one-year amending agreement to the former protocol and bilateral agreement.

Reports on the findings of a study to evaluate the successes, challenges, and opportunities associated with the implementation of the Provincial Dual Credit Strategy as of June 2017. The Provincial Dual Credit Strategy was implemented in 2013 as a "call to action" for school jurisdictions, post-secondary institutions, and business and industry to expand their collective effort to develop engaging and relevant learning experiences for all Alberta students so they can reach their full potential.

In 2013, the Government of Alberta announced that it was ending the Grade 3 Provincial Achievement Test (PAT) program and that beginning in the 2014/15 school year a new Student Learning Assessment (SLA) program would take its place. Alberta Education chose to develop the SLA program through a series of pilots. In conjunction with the 2016 pilot this study was commissioned to examine the effectiveness of the SLA program.

The Alberta Teacher Workload Study was commissioned to define and understand teachers’ workload in Alberta. The study was carried out to comply with commitments made under the Assurance for Students’ Act and the ensuing modified Framework Agreement. The Government of Alberta, the Alberta Teachers’ Association, and the Alberta School Boards Association formed a cooperative venture for coordinating and overseeing the project’s execution. The study provides stakeholders with a common, comprehensive assessment of the reality of teachers’ workload in Alberta to help guide future policy discussions and work negotiations amongst these parties.
