Sets out the 10 recommendations established by the Child and Youth Well-Being Panel to help support the well-being of children and youth impacted by COVID-19. The expert advisory panel was appointed in May 2021 to better understand the full scope of the psychological, social, educational, and physical effects on children and youth of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Child and Youth Well-being Review was established to better understand the full scope of the psychological, social, educational and physical effects related to the COVID-19 pandemic on children and youth. The panel engaged with a wide range of Albertans, including researchers, educators, health care professionals, and mental health experts, as well as parents and kids. Building Strength, Inspiring Hope: A Provincial Action Plan for Youth Suicide Prevention 2019 – 2024 was released in March 2019. One of the actions the Government of Alberta committed to was to support the co-creation of First Nations and Métis youth suicide prevention graphic novels to provide an awareness resource that is reflective of the experiences of Indigenous youth. Children’s Services partnered with Indigenous Story Studio to create two graphic novels related to suicide prevention and mental health promotion; one reflects a First Nations story and the other a Métis story, both with a focus on wellness. The graphic novels were created through engagement with Indigenous youth across Alberta.
