Guidelines and application for program funding for operators of non-contracted licensed supportive living and both contracted and non-contracted home care, hospices and residential addiction and mental health treatment centres. This one-time funding is to offset the costs for increased staffing, additional cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment.

Record of decision of the Chief Medical Officer of Health outlining updated operational and outbreak standards for residential addiction treatment service providers. These standards are included in Appendix A. The intent of these standards is to help prevent the spread of infection while allowing individuals to continue to receive treatment and overcome their addiction. Note: this order revises CMOH Order 13-2020, by rescinding and replacing Appendix A. The screening tools included in Appendix B are no longer current. Up-to-date screening tools can be accessed under the Related tab.

Record of decision of the Chief Medical Officer of Health outlining updated operational and outbreak standards for residential addiction treatment service providers. These standards are included in Appendix A. The intent of these standards is to help prevent the spread of infection while allowing individuals to continue to receive treatment and overcome their addiction. Note: residential addiction treatment services facilities were removed from the scope of previous CMOH Orders 09-2020 and 10-2020. NOTE: this order and appendices were rescinded by CMOH order 27-2020.

Note: Effective May 25, 2020, Part 2 of this order (Appendices A and B, operational and outbreak standards) has been amended by CMOH Order 23-2020. Also, residential addiction treatment service facilities are now covered in Order 13-2020. See the Related tab. Effective September 17, 2020, Part 2 of this order has been amended by CMOH Order 32-2020.

This guide assists service providers of residential addiction treatment facilities in meeting the licensing requirements of Alberta’s Mental Health Services Protection Act. Getting Started answers the questions that service providers may have when applying for a licence to provide residential addiction treatment services. It describes the Act’s requirements, how to apply for a licence, and what is involved in the inspection and monitoring of service providers who provide residential addiction treatment services in Alberta. It also describes what to expect when a service provider is in non-compliance with the legislation and enforcement is required. The guide also includes tools, such as checklists and templates, to support service providers.
