Focus is placed on examining counts and rates of for the current year within the context of previous years and Alberta Health Services Zones.

The guidelines presented here for the treatment of sexually transmitted infections in Alberta have been adapted from the Canadian Guidelines on Sexually Transmitted Infections for provincial use with permission from the Public Health Agency of Canada. It includes the level of recommendation and quality of evidence indicators for the treatment recommendations. The indicators reflect a combination of the methodologies from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force and the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care and have been modified and simplified for use.

Intended for public health professionals, this resource presents the recommended practices for the management and reporting of chlamydia infections as notifiable diseases. Topics covered include: a case definition of the disease; information on reporting requirements; disease etiology; clinical presentation; diagnosis; epidemiology; key investigation; case management and treatment; and preventive measures. The guidelines were developed by Alberta Health with input and advice from medical officers of health, public health nurses, public health inspectors and medical infectious disease specialists.
