This preliminary study was conducted to understand how socio-economic changes impact northern Alberta and to assist communities in responding to fluctuations in economic activity. Qualitative analysis of interviews with northern leaders revealed some best practices that municipalities can consider both now and in the future as the region continues to manage and diversify its resource based economies.
