Description

Based on the nonlinear least squares method and nonlinear mixed-effects modeling technique, provincial and subregion-specific tree diameter prediction models were developed for major Alberta tree species. These models predict individual tree diameters at breast height from tree heights (varies by report). They can be used at both the population and plot-specific levels with varying degrees of accuracy. Different procedures for making the predictions under different circumstances are presented. Examples of model application are demonstrated based on real data.

Description

Based on the nonlinear least squares method and nonlinear mixed-effects modeling technique, provincial and subregion-specific tree diameter prediction models were developed for major Alberta tree species. These models predict individual tree diameters at breast height from tree heights (varies by report). This addendum outlines Forest Management Plan-specific ground rules which apply to area outlined in Forest Management Agreement 9700032. These rules are in addition to the Alberta Timber Harvest Planning and Operating Ground Rules 2022. Where a rule in the Addendum and a rule in the Provincial OGR relate to the same subject matter or objective, the rule in the Addendum governs. FMP-specific addendums are supplemental to the OGRs and will be negotiated with the applicable FMA holder where additional ground rules are needed to address specific strategies in an FMP or unique physical or non-physical landscape attributes. These are meant to be a small list related to specific FMP requirements and not a preferred deviation or exceptions from the provincial OGRs.
