This dataset serves as a public tracking system for responses to recommendations made by judges as a result of a public fatality inquiry. For each inquiry, the tracking system records the name of the deceased, the cause and manner of death, the recommendations made by the judge to prevent similar deaths, the persons and organizations who were asked to respond to the recommendations, and their responses, if any.

Getting Started answers the questions prospective operators may have when applying for a licence to provide continuing care services. It describes how to apply for a licence and what is expected of licensed operators. It also describes what is involved in the inspection and monitoring of accommodations and what to expect when a provider is in contravention with Alberta Health and enforcement is required. We encourage prospective operators to schedule a pre-consultation meeting with the Continuing Care Licensing Office to discuss their plans before starting this application process

Description

The Continuing Care Act regulates the full spectrum of continuing care services and settings in Alberta, including continuing care homes, supportive living accommodations, and home and community care. The Act establishes authority and oversight for licensing, accommodations, and the delivery of publicly funded health care in the continuing care system. It includes requirements for licensing, compliance and enforcement actions, and appeals. The Act repeals the Nursing Homes Act, Supportive Living Accommodation Licensing Act, Long Term Care Information Act, and Resident and Family Councils Act.

This Regulation sets out how the Crown’s cost of health services are calculated for the purposes of the Crown’s right of recovery when a person suffers personal injuries as a result of another’s wrongful act or omission. It also sets out the information required to be provided by an insurer who is notified of circumstances in which the Crown’s right of recovery may arise, other than circumstances relating to the use of an automobile.
