Description

Responding to the COVID-19 pandemic is challenging the capacity for some organizations to comply with certain legislation and regulations, especially those related to time, location and distance. This Ministerial Order from the Minister of Service Alberta allows flexibility for businesses, public bodies, non-profits and other groups to remain compliant with legislation. Modifications are related to legislative requirements related to time, location, distance, access to information and collection of utility payments.

The Mass Fatality Plan provides guidance to Alberta's municipalities in the development of their emergency management plans, and will act as an operational framework to inform first responder, municipal, and provincial activity during a mass fatality incident. It also describes the method by which the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will work with municipal government, law enforcement, provincial government departments, the funeral services industry, the healthcare sector, and other stakeholders in the event of a mass fatality incident in Alberta.

On November 8th, 2022 at the 40th Annual Meeting of Federal-Provincial-Territorial Ministers responsible for the Status of Women, Ministers endorsed the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence; a ten-year, collaborative approach to ending gender-based violence. The Department for Women and Gender Equality Canada is funding provinces and territories to supplement and enhance services and supports within their jurisdictions to prevent gender-based violence and support survivors. The purpose of the agreement is to support Alberta's implementation of the National Action Plan based on our specific context and priorities.

The information, tools, and resources in this guide can be tailored to suit the local context and customized to fit with organizational needs and capacity. The guide includes a workbook which provides example templates for building components of a recreation services emergency plan.

This Guide outlines the parameters of Alberta’s Radiation Protection Program, which is established under the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act. The OHS Code (which falls under the OHS Act) places an obligation on employers to ensure that all designated radiation equipment has a valid registration certificate before the equipment may be used at a work site. This Guide explains how a registration certificate is issued, including the role of radiation inspection and registration agencies, and Government of Alberta staff within the process.

Description

The influenza pandemic outbreak experienced in 2009 was recognized as an opportunity to review Alberta’s plans and preparedness and determine what could be improved in a future response to another pandemic or other public health emergency. The Health Quality Council of Alberta (HQCA) was asked to conduct a review of the Alberta response. The review focused on the activities of Alberta Health and Wellness, Alberta Health Services and Alberta Emergency Management Agency. The review revealed many good outcomes and commendable practices from Alberta’s response to the pandemic which should continue in future responses to public health emergencies. It also identified systemic shortfalls that limited Alberta’s ability to respond effectively. The report makes 18 recommendations to address these shortfalls.

Certain requirements in Chief Medical Officer of Health order 19-2020 should not be necessary for all businesses, entities, places of worship and schools, and should be replaced with specific guidance they can implement as a best practice. Therefore, this CMOH Order rescinds the requirement in section 6 of Order 19-2020 for operators to create and post a plan to meet the requirements of the Order. CMOH Order 21-2020 rescinded section 19.

Therefore, this CMOH Order rescinds the requirement in section 11 of Order 18-2020 and section 19 of Order 19-2020 for operators to create and post a plan to meet the requirements of these Orders. Section 6 of Order 19-2020 was rescinded by Order 22-2020.
