Description

Approximately 60 per cent of the province's land base is public land. It is managed for a variety of uses, under an integrated resource management philosophy (integrating the many resource uses and needs on public lands). Although the majority of the land supports forest production, it is also important for watershed protection, wildlife habitat, recreation, oil and gas well sites, agricultural production and industrial development, to mention only a few of the uses.

Holders of grazing leases, grazing licenses and forest reserve permits may apply to co-manage their disposition with another disposition holder. This will enable disposition holders to trial a partnership arrangement before making a decision to finalize a long-term partnership through full or partial assignment. Disposition holders may only have one co-management agreement per disposition. The co-management agreement may include any combination of grazing leases, grazing licenses or forest reserve permits.
