In accordance with section 792.1 of the Insurance Act, the Alberta Superintendent of Insurance has adopted and issued the following Guidelines of the federal Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI Guidelines), including future revisions, for provincially incorporated Property and Casualty Insurers, Life Insurers and Reciprocal Insurance Exchanges, either formed under the Insurance Act, or who have transferred to Alberta such that Alberta is their primary regulator (collectively known as “provincially regulated insurance entities”). Regulatory action includes administrative penalties, cease and desist orders, compliance undertakings and court prosecutions. In all cases involving regulatory action, there will be public notification on the Government of Alberta website at http://insurance.alberta.ca/bulletins. This document contains enforcement activities undertaken by the Alberta Superintendent of Insurance and is updated to add new information as necessary.
