Description

This CSS dataset describes the monthly Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) caseload in Alberta. The AISH program provides financial and health benefits to eligible adult Albertans with a permanent medical condition that prevents them from earning a living.   Caseloads are reported as the actual volume each month and by the Alberta government’s fiscal year. Depending on an individual’s situation, some AISH benefits may also be provided for a spouse or partner and dependent children.   Monthly caseloads are also shown as a portion of the entire Alberta population; and by gender, age, primary medical condition, family composition, employment participation and seven service delivery regions across the province.   To see a map with seven AISH delivery regions, choose the Community and Social Services Regions Map within the Resources section.

The Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program provides services to help adults with developmental disabilities live as independently as possible in their communities.   PDD supports and services are available to individuals through Family Managed Services (FMS) agreements, contracts with community service providers, or through facilities that are operated directly by the Government of Alberta. The data goes back to June 2018 and tracks how many individuals receiving PDD services are accessing support by using FMS, community service providers, or through government operated facilities.
