Description

Gas safety information bulletins provide guidance and clarity to interested parties on matters relating to gas codes adopted under the Gas Code Regulation. STANDATA are developed and issued by Alberta Municipal Affairs to support the consistent application of codes and standards under the Safety Codes Act. STANDATA are issued as interpretations, variances or information bulletins that may apply province-wide or to specific sites for any thing, process or activity regulated by the Act.

These rules are in addition to the Alberta Timber Harvest Planning and Operating Ground Rules 2023. Where a rule in the addendum and a rule in the provincial OGR relate to the same subject matter or objective, the rule in the addendum governs. FMP-specific addendums are supplemental to the OGRs and will be negotiated with the applicable FMA holder where additional ground rules are needed to address specific strategies in an FMP or unique physical or non-physical landscape attributes.

In addition, the standards provide information about compiling and reporting harvest data and describes non-standard scale methods used to estimate volumes of decked and stacked timber. These standards are authorized and posted under sections 2(1) and 2(2) of the Forests (Ministerial) Regulation, pursuant to Section 5(e) of the Forests Act.

Description

The details of where, when and how trees on Crown land in Alberta are harvested and managed for sustainability are contained in forest management plans approved by the Government of Alberta, with input from the public and other stakeholders. Forest management plans prepared by industry are a requirement of Forest Management Agreements (FMA) negotiated between the Government of Alberta and forest companies. Forest management plans provide direction for sustainable management of forest resources. FMA 9100029 is allocated to Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. and consists of 11 forest management units (FMU) A16, L1, L2, L3, L8, L11, S11, S14, S18, S22, and S23. The FMA area is located in northeastern Alberta and falls predominately within Central Mixedwood, Upper and Lower Boreal Highlands, and Athabasca Plain natural sub-regions.
